VoiceLink

My VoiceLink web portal

Help for the built-in web page for your account, rooms, downloads and server admin.

What it is

My VoiceLink is VoiceLink's own web page for managing your account and, if you run the server, the server itself. Every VoiceLink server has it. You don't need WordPress, Composr, Drupal or a Client Portal; those can still be connected, but they are optional.

Open it from the VoiceLink web app with the "My VoiceLink" link near the top of the main screen, or go straight to /client/portal/ on your server. For the main service, open the VoiceLink web portal.

The tabs

Account
Sign in, see your account details, create your own VoiceLink server when you choose, notifications, files you shared and your email choices.
Security
Two-factor sign-in status, devices signed in with your account, "Sign out all other devices", change your password, your sign-in methods (email and password, Mastodon, blind.software, Client Portal), and, once you have more than one, a sign-in method for each server you use (falls back quietly to your usual order if that choice stops working). Shown when you are signed in.
Connected apps
App tokens: give one app or device access to your account with only the permissions you choose, and revoke it later. Shown when you are signed in.
Rooms
The rooms on this server, with a search field. Join opens the room in the web app. When signed in you can also invite people to a room.
Downloads
The VoiceLink apps for your devices (your device's platform is listed first) and a form that emails you the download links.
Admin
Only for server owners, admins and staff, and only the sections your role allows: Server, Rooms, Users, Agents, Analytics, Invites, File sharing, Support, Mastodon, Federation, Modules and (server owners only) Community directory. The server checks every change again.

Creating your own server

Creating a server is optional. A Client Portal account can join any VoiceLink server and hold the moderator or administrator roles assigned there without creating one. When you are ready, choose Create my server on the Account tab. The setup dialog asks for a server name and an optional domain or subdomain, then starts the server's private setup wizard.

If the Client Portal is temporarily unavailable, your server is still created. VoiceLink shows one pending-sync notification, then one linked notification after it has added the VoiceLink product to your Client Portal. The Notification Center also receives server-ready, approval, domain, credit, invoice and update notices. Email is optional and is never the only way to receive one.

For a linked server, choose Review upgrade limits on the Account tab. VoiceLink shows the price, your available credit, credit applied, amount due and credit remaining before Confirm upgrade becomes available. Choosing a different upgrade asks you to review its quote again.

A server that is not open yet

Until its owner finishes setup, a hosted server's homepage says, “This VoiceLink server isn't open yet - check back later.” If you are signed in, choose Follow in VoiceLink to receive one Server is open item in Notifications when it opens. Following is private: the homepage does not show who follows a server or how many people do.

On the web, a new item is announced by your screen reader and you can review it later from Notifications. Native Notification Center support is still being completed before this feature is available on every platform.

Using it with the keyboard and a screen reader

Community directory (server owners)

Any VoiceLink server can ask the central VoiceLink directory to be listed, with an auto-generated page built from that server's own signed details (name, owner, location, rooms, trust) that stays in sync on its own. The central API keeps one shared queue and trusted-domain list. In Admin > Community directory, its owners can maintain an immediate trusted-domain list and a delayed trusted-domain list (24 hours by default, adjustable from 1 to 720 hours). A listed domain only gets either rule after its owner proves control with the shown DNS TXT record or HTTPS .well-known file; typing a trusted name never grants trust. Other requests stay in the normal owner approval queue. The community page has an own-domain form that returns only the needed DNS, point-to-server, or self-host steps; people without a domain can use the community, My VoiceLink, or hosted <name>.voicelinkapp.app pages (or the owner can turn the browser client off). Domains are never shown to people using the app; this admin section is the only place this server's owner sees another server's address, so they can judge whether to trust it.

What moved here

Audio, push-to-talk, welcome chime, privacy and update-report settings stay in the web app's Settings, because they belong to the device you are using.
